Our Graduate Program in Lettersaims to build knowledge in the fields of Linguistics, Literature and Translation. Our studies contribute to the scientific production in many areas, such as Applied Linguistics, Literary, Memory, and Translation Studies.
We are specialized in the study of discursive practices, literary analysis and art of the Inconfidentes region. We study the cultural aspects of the region – nearby the city of Ouro Preto – carrying out studies regarding its linguistic history, literary culture and arts.
Our campus is in Mariana, the first capital of the State of Minas Gerais. The city has a rich history, being the main site alongside Ouro Preto of the gold exploration in the eighteenth century and the hometown of the most important Brazilian symbolist poet, Alphonsus de Guimarães.
